Area Law 152: Your Questions Answered About Periodic Gas Piping Inspections - Calray Boilers4/26/2024 Maya Millete's Family Beg Husband Larry To Reveal Location Of Remains™ The family of slain California mother Maya Millete have appealed to her estranged husband to reveal the location of her remains, nine months after she vanished without a trace while pursuing a divorce. Larry Millete was arrested last week and pleaded not guilty to murdering his wife and mother of his three children. Maya's sister said Larry was 'controlling' and had previously said he could not imagine himself without his wife, even as she was seeking a way out of their 'toxic' relationship. Maya disappeared from the family's Chula Vista, California home, on January 7, when she was scheduled to meet with a divorce attorney. Her body has not been recovered. On Monday, the victim's sister and brother-in-law appeared on Fox News, begging their jailed brother-in-law to help them bring Maya home so she could be laid to rest. Maya Millete's older sister, Maricris Drouaillet, and her husband, Richard, on Monday publicly appealed to Larry Millete to reveal the location of his wife's body Larry Millete pleaded not guilty in a Chula Vista courtroom last Thursday to a murder charge related to his wife May, who is missing and presumed dead Police in Chula Vista, California, last week arrested Larry Millete (left) for the murder of his missing wife, May (right), who was last seen alive on January 7 'We're praying he'll do it for his kids, that he'll let them know where mommy is,' Maya Millete's older sister, Maricris Drouaillet, said. 'We believe he's not that evil and hopefully he'll have a change of heart.' Larry was arrested last Tuesday during a raid on his home, and on Thursday he pleaded not guilty to counts of first-degree murder and possession of an assault weapon. 'It's been hard for me because he's been a family for 20 years and he is a part of my nieces and nephews, so it's really, really heartbreaking for me and the whole family,' Drouaillet said on Fox News after Larry's arraignment. It was recently alleged that prior to her death, Larry choked his wife until she lost consciousness as their marriage unraveled. 'Maya was scared of Larry for a long time,' said Richard Drouaillet, Maricris' husband. 'I think last year was the breaking point for their relationship. There was a lot of red flags. We never imagined something like this would happen. Florida cops admit to 'costly error' in mistakenly... 'I hurt mommy': Chilling words of jealous TikTok star, 29,... Over the weekend, relatives and volunteers gathered at Anzo-Borrega Desert State Park to look for Maya's remains Maya's sister helped search for the missing woman after prosecutors said that it is believed her remains might be located about 2.5 hours from the family's home. People divorce all the time. People have issues in their relationship all the time. I think Larry just couldn't imagine himself without her, so something snapped in his head.' Maya's sister said that Larry was 'a good person' and a good father to their children, but their marriage was not perfect. She claimed that her brother-in-law became 'controlling'. Struggled with the idea of letting Maya go. 'It got too toxic, the relationship, and she didn't really want to be in that relationship anymore,' said Maricris. Maya's family revealed that her three children, ages 5, 10 and 11, are currently in the care of their parental grandparents, and they are safe and in good hands. The relatives are now focused on recovering Maya Millete's body. San Diego County District Attorney Summer Stephan said at a press conference last week that investigators believe that Maya's remains might be located about 2.5 hours from the family's home. Drouaillet, other relatives and a group of volunteers last weekend searched in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, an arid area about two hours northeast of Chula Vista, reported CBS8. They plan to scour other places where the Milletes had been known to visit. 'Now that the DA's office gave us a little more specific area to search, we are all fired up,' the sister said. 'It gave us hope that we'll be able to bring her home.' Larry Millete is being held without bail. He is due back in court on November 4 for a bail review hearing. Millete was represented by defense attorney Bonita Martinez (pictured at left) Larry was taken into custody at the family home last Tuesday morning around 11am, after murder charges were filed by the San Diego district attorney on Monday. According to an arrest warrant, Maya once told a friend that Larry choked her to the point of losing consciousness. The warrant also indicated that May sent her friend a text the day before she disappeared, saying: 'I told him I'm filing for divorce whether he likes it or not. I'm done trying to make it amicable for the sake of the kids.' The court filing also showed that police considered Larry to have 'a frantic, desperate, unbalanced mindset coupled with violent and sometimes homicidal ideation.' Last Tuesday, DA Stephan said that Larry had tried to put a curse on his wife as the relationship deteriorated and she began talking about wanting a divorce. Stephan also revealed the final call made by Maya before she vanished had been to a divorce lawyer. 'Extensive search warrants uncovered a trail of things that were happening, that were of great concern,' Stephan told a press conference outside the Chula Vista Police Department. 'Larry was trying to hold on to May. 'He resorted to contacting spell casters, who would be asked to make May stay in the relationship. 'In December he was asking for May to become incapacitated, to be in an accident and have broken bones so she could stay at home.' Summer Stephan, the San Diego County district attorney, on Tuesday afternoon addressed a press conference and detailed the evidence they used to charge Larry Millete with his wife's murder During the January 7 call, May spoke to a divorce lawyer and set a date for an appointment nyc local law 87 on January 12, Stephan said. The last message that May sent was at 8:15pm on January 7, when she used Facebook Messenger to contact her family. A few hours earlier, in the afternoon of January 7, Larry had sent a text message which read: 'I think she wants me to snap and I am shaking inside ready to snap.' May's phone activity stopped at 1:25am on January 8. 'Larry's messages to the spell caster turned from wanting to keep May to wanting to punish a man he blamed for the failed relationship,' said Stephan. Larry has been charged with one count of murder, on or around January 7, and one count of possession of an illegal weapon. Larry was a known gun fanatic, who had been ordered to give up his guns. Police and FBI agents are seen outside the Millete family home in Chula Vista on Tuesday night Chula Vista police were still combing the scene on Tuesday night, having arrested Larry at 11am that morning FBI agents were seen on Tuesday night taking away boxes of evidence for further analysis An FBI agent is seen outside the garage of the Milette house. Larry was alone when he was arrested on Tuesday morning; their three children are safe and well The street in Chula Vista was cordoned off on Tuesday night as the property was searched FBI agents could be seen bagging up evidence to take away for further analysis Larry was being held on Tuesday night without bail, as the FBI team combed his home The disappearance of May Milette in January shocked the local community in Chula Vista, and many people joined in the search for her. The street is seen on Tuesday, cordoned off after Larry's arrest for her murder The couple are pictured with their three children before May's disappearance Authorities released this photo of Larry's stash of weapons and four passports. They say the haul includes two illegally-owned AR-15 rifles 'He had not turned over one of those weapons, a .40 calibre gun, and it remains outstanding today,' said Stephan. She said investigators were still actively seeking the body, and May's sister Maricris Drouaillet, who raised the initial alarm, made a tearful appeal on Tuesday afternoon for help. 'I still want to see my sister,' she said, sobbing at the press conference. 'I still want her to come home to us. 'Please, if you know anything at all. Please help us, I'm pleading. 'I still want her to come home. 'We made a promise to her 11-year-old daughter we will bring her home. Please. 'Let the kids know where their mommy is at. Let them know the truth.' Drouaillet expressed how the family aspect of the arrest has been 'really hard' for her to grasp. 'It's hard to go against family,' she while trying to hold back tears. 'He's been with us for 20 years. My sister did love him, she gave him three kids.' Maricris's husband Richard Drouaillet added: 'That she didn't abandon them. She didn't get up and leave.' Maricris Drouaillet sobbed on Tuesday as she addressed a press conference and begged for Larry to say where her sister was buried Maricris, pictured with her husband Richard, was the one who called the police on the evening of January 8, after her sister did not return her calls Maricris said she had promised her sister's children that she would find out what happened to their mother Police and Feds swarmed the Millete family's home in Chula Vista on Tuesday An overhead shot shows police vehicles lined up outside the Millete home FBI agents were on the scene at the time of Larry Millete's arrest for murder May, 39, was last seen alive at her family's home in Chula Vista on January 7. In late July, after searching the Millete home three separate times, police named Larry a person of interest in his wife's disappearance. According to the police department's press release, investigators have interviewed 87 people, written 67 search warrants and followed up on more than 130 tips about Maya's possible location or reason for the disappearance. Stephan said that neighbors heard nine loud bangs coming from the Millete house at 9:57pm on the night of January 7. Accounting Software Vs Bookkeeping Software™ Accounting software. Ew!
Bfast is an acronym for ‘Bookkeeping for Australian Sole Traders’. It’s commonly known as online accounting software, but make no mistake - it has very little in common with the likes of MYOB, QuickBooks, Xero, Freshbooks etc. Most freelancers who dare to open a regular accounting application are overwhelmed fairly quickly. Those packages are not designed for regular people, or even semi-experienced small business owners. They are designed (often poorly, especially Cost of virtual assistant for bookkeeping in Australia) for accountants and bookkeepers who understand terms like “principle depreciation” and “account reconciliation”. Although most freelancers could theoretically manage their businesses using regular accounting software, the cost of fully-fledged systems, not to mention the time involved in their prohibitively steep learning curves, makes spreadsheets and word processors a much more appealing option. One of the major drawbacks of full-featured accounting programs is their dependence on bank accounts. Everything has to be sourced from, or assigned to, a bank account. Most freelancers use one bank account for their personal and business expenses, and may even have day jobs that provide income not relevant to their ABN-related income. An accounting system dependent upon and/or linked to a bank account therefore serves no purpose for a sole trader, because any automated data entry would be made inaccurate by all the non-business expenses and/or income in the same account. And that doesn’t even factor in any cash expenses. Bfast’s feature set is so limited that one could argue it isn’t really accounting software. The only relevant accounts are the accounts you give your clients when they owe you money, and hardly any freelancer thinks in those terms. Bfast is better described as easy bookkeeping software. It’s a mechanism by which you can keep your paperwork organised, and see compound figures (such as quarterly and yearly income totals) that save you having to spend hours in a dimly lit basement with a calculator. Bfast is built to perform one simple function: track your business-related cash flow for the purpose of keeping in line with the Australian Federal Government’s requirements for business taxation. This means issuing invoices that may or may not include GST, reporting income (both GST and principle amounts) to the ATO, and claiming any tax deductions (again, both GST and principle amounts). At its heart, Bfast is really a replacement for the dreaded spreadsheet/word-processor combination. You can use Bfast to draft and send invoices, and add them up for quarterly/yearly reporting. Creating a seamless invoicing workflow using Word and Excel is theoretically possible, but so technically demanding, both to set up and to operate, that it’s effectively out of reach for anyone without a degree in computer science. In addition to adding up all your invoice and expense totals, factoring in business use, GST inclusion/exclusion, payment dates and other data, Bfast offers the advantage of secure storage and cloud-based access through web browsers, anywhere in the nation (or world, for that matter). Online bookkeeping software for Australian freelancers and sole traders to send invoices, track expenses and report business activity. The easiest, simplest accounting software available. IT Support Companies: The 10 Most Common Products And Services™ IT support companies sell all kinds of products and services. How do you know what they are. If you need them? Here is a list of the 10 most common items with a brief explanation of each one. We hope this helps you understand what you are looking for in an IT support company. (For more information on what type of IT support your office might need - in-house, consulting, managed IT services, or IT-as-a-service, check out this post and chart.) 1. Tech/IT support (AKA “help desk”)
Back when offices were first getting computers and printers, general information technology (or “IT”) professionals came on the scene to help maintain, fix, and upgrade systems. Today, individual offices can do a lot without extra help. Most people can type, save files, and communicate via email on their own. Online or “cloud” software is easier than ever to use. But software freezes; file servers need regular maintenance; hacker threats are only increasing. This is where your “help desk” comes in. You email or call your IT support team with technology issues, and they come to the rescue. 2. File servers
File servers are computers large enough to hold all the data generated by your office - that could be emails, PCLaw data, Microsoft Word documents, or any other kind of work you do. Traditionally, offices have purchased file servers and compare IT services providers kept them in your physical office (usually tucked away in a corner or maybe a closet with the internet equipment!). With the hefty cost of standard file servers, many offices are now moving to an entirely cloud-based environment. The Cloud Office system we provide our clients (and use ourselves) has many benefits in addition to cost savings: it’s fast, it’s safe, and it allows you to log in to your entire work computer on any device. 3. Email
The foundation of all work communication for many of us, email is of utmost importance. We must keep accounts secure, store email data as needed, make sure the software is working smoothly, add or restrict email access. Our preferred email service for clients is Microsoft 365. 4. Computer repair
Some IT companies specialize in computer repair, where you can either stop by the company’s central office with a computer for them to fix, or have them dispatch a technician on demand to your office. Other companies, such as ours, do computer repair for regular clients only. With the Cloud Office system we use, individual computers have a much longer life. To keep computers running even longer, we do a lot of behind-the-scenes computer maintenance and repair for our clients remotely from our Toronto office, and we visit our client offices for help when needed. 5. Cloud services
The “cloud” is the delivery of services over the internet, and it has changed how many companies do IT support. You may be familiar with software that runs on the cloud rather than in your physical office. Now, entire file servers and work computers can live on on the cloud. Who owns and operates your work cloud? If your services are run on a “public cloud,” it usually means a third-party provider such as Microsoft Azure rents you the space you need. A “private cloud” is a system used exclusively by a single company. In our case, we run a private cloud system whose servers live in a highly secure Canadian data centre. From there, our clients have access to their exclusively allocated cloud space. The advantages of using comprehensive cloud services such as the Cloud Office system include lower costs, high speed, and top security standards. As a practical bonus in the age of flexible work hours and spaces, the Cloud Office makes it easy to log in to your work computer on any device. 6. Virtual desktops
A virtual desktop is a safe and modern way for you to gain remote access to your computer. When travelling or working from home, we often need to access our applications and files quickly and easily. With a virtual desktop, you log on to your entire work computer and see everything as you left it, but on a different physical computer than the one you normally use. This means, for example, that you can move from your office desktop to your home laptop without even having to re-open your documents. 7. Data security
Data security is important for all offices. One threat to watch out for is ransomware. Professional hackers target offices hoping to hold your data ransom in exchange for cash. The public messaging that follows a ransomware hit usually includes phrases like “sophisticated” and “targeted attack.” But in fact, these attacks are far from sophisticated. There are many basic protocols your IT support company should have in place to prevent these attacks in the first place, and a plan for what to do if security is breached. Ask your IT provider about:
Two-factor authentication Data backups - Per-user access rights to your data - Data encryption - Safe file sharing - Configurable sharing rules If your company has become a victim to ransomware, here’s what has likely happened:
1. Someone in the office picked up a piece of ransomware coming from an online source, and it locked all your files. 2. Your data backups weren’t working, so you had to pay to unlock the files. Think of data security as mandatory basic insurance for any business, municipality, or non-profit, big or small. And when you have a data security system in place, ask your IT provider: do we have a plan for what to do if and when our hacking safeguards fail? 8. Data backups
An essential component to any IT service is data backups. Tested, working backup copies of all your data. Backups are what we turn to when disaster strikes. Those situations include natural disasters, acts of war, provider outages, hackers, viruses, failed hardware, and even good old lost laptops. We hope to never have to use client data backups. But we know they are there if we ever do. 9. Office phones
Between old school rotary phones and phones that work entirely on a mobile app, businesses and non-profits can choose from a wide selection of office phones. Most IT companies will help get them working for you. Modern phone options allow you to increase productivity. Reduce costs while working from anywhere. We customize, host, and deploy 3CX VOIP phone systems for our clients. 10. Network equipment
Some very common IT items that you might hear about are network switches and routers. We use primarily Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti wireless brands, two of the best available today. Also known as network equipment, this is the hardware that keeps your systems online, communicating with each other and connecting to the internet. It is important to keep network equipment to up to date, reliable, and in line with current security standards. At our IT company, you’ll never even notice we are doing this. With the Cloud Office, we include the best available gear for your office. There is no additional cost for this, so you won’t be caught by surprise by extra hardware costs.
